We began with the STREATS Soap Opera Series which brought forth every day matters that we all encounter and examined them from the perspective of the homeless in a comical, serious, and satirical manner designed to make you say hmmm. All acting, filming, and marketing of the shows were driven by the homeless; and never had the Nations Capitol seen homeless with high tech cameras and lighting in the city streets filming their own production entitled STREATS Television. The Soap Opera Series was shown in DC, MD, VA, CA, TX, NY, MI on public access networks, as well featured on local news channels and in newspapers.

Having attained much positive media, advocacy, and public attention, STREATS was successful in ”penetrating the populations” (homeless, media, advocacy agencies) and branding STREATS. With full access and trust of the homeless community, STREATS set its sights in 2008 on incorporating and engaging DC Government and the homeless advocacy agencies on “real time” hard issues, via “STREATS News”. STREATS News chronicles DC Government’s handling of its Housing, Employment, and Human Services for the homeless. Most importantly through STREATS News Specials has brought the homeless, homeless advocates and DC government officials together on film to discuss and debate the intricacies of homeless services in the District of Columbia. This unprecedented approach brought credibility, sustainability, and demand for the STREATS self-empowerment approach towards homeless advocacy. On film and behind closed doors STREATS has developed a phenomenal rapport with the District of Columbia City Council and District of Columbia Department of Human Services.  STREATS Television has brought us to what we are doing.
